Rapid antigen tests are set to play a bigger role in the management of COVID-19 in Australia.

New South Wales and Victoria have more than 80 million rapid tests on order between them both states have committed to supplying them for free.

The Commonwealth will split the cost of the tests 50-50 with the states.

Distributers say that is good news. They have blamed supply shortages on inconsistent messaging from governments.
